What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a functional approach to health that takes into account the whole person. As a naturopathic doctor, my ultimate goal is nearly always to search for the root cause of symptoms, treat those and see lasting effects. My medical degree was earned after years of rigorous training, state mandated licensing exams and thousands of hours of clinical work. I am thoroughly trained in diagnosing conditions and can prescribe appropriate treatments.

My advanced trainings over the years have included primary care, functional medicine, nutrition, nutrigenomics, genetic health, chronic GI infections, preconception health and postpartum support.

Principles of Naturopathic Medicine

  1. First, do no harm. Primum non nocere.

  2. Listen to the healing power of nature. Vis medicatrix naturae.

  3. Identify and treat the root cause. Tolle causam.

  4. Doctor as teacher. Docere.

  5. Treat the whole person. Tolle totum.

  6. Focus on prevention. Praevenire.

With these principles at the forefront of my training in healthcare, I look to symptoms as a way the body communicates that something is out of balance.
